Has the Media lost its Way?

Once upon a time the Press was seen as the Fourth Estate (objectivity)

jefferson-corrupt

Am I unique in that I expect the press to inform me honestly? Am I unique in that I expect the press to be champions of the first amendment?

Their propitiation to the SOROS/OBAMA/CLINTON camp reminds me of a rotten apple coated in treacle, distasteful.

If that were all but it is not, but now it is getting even worse. COERCION HAS ENTERED IN. Have we just survived a SOROS orchestrated coup? Lots of evidence that the Inauguration protests were orchestrated. Hello, riots on the border, and all around the world? That the tentacles of evil penetrate so far and so deep is of concern.

What has also concerned voters (but not the Press) is that if we don’t agree with the LIBERAL mindset, we can lose a job, be roughed up, (especially on college campuses) or even dead. Strong circumstantial evidence that alt-right investigative journalist & author, Roger Stone was poisoned. Celebs thinking of performing at Trump’s Inauguration are also getting death threats. Far too many death threats against our new President & VP. This is a president elected by the people.

Is this the old free America?

And saddest of all is that the PRESS IS FAILING TO CALL THEM OUT ON THIS.
And sadder even, Justice (CIA, FBI, DOJ) has been aboard, forwarding false political narratives.  What Americans found out in 2016 is that there was a  deliberate effort to divide. What Trump taught us is that we are all Americans. The MSM reporters need to wake up and see that the people have won America’s third crisis and that the Progressive Age is done.

Hello fellow Americans, we have far more in common one with another, than we are different. This is the message the Press should put out.  Then the Press should speak out LOUD & CLEAR to the rich and powerful telling them that it is a new age in America and the world, and henceforth, there will be no government without the consent of the people.

If MSM wants to survive they should be getting all reporters to study the American Constitution.

For as the people discover Trump’s positive attributes, the Press slander is boomeranging back on them.

The LEFT has created a new moral code; they think if you hold a different viewpoint you are bad. This is un-american.

Before you were good if you worked hard, went to Church, raised a good family and got ahead. NO more. Now you are seen as bad  if you stand for something that challenges the status quo and/or the corrupt elites. The LEFT is trying to thrust a new moral code on America and no performer and no reporter and no student dare like or help the outsider. Like the kings of old “Might is Right.” and oppression has entered in.

This is America folks. We can agree to freely disagree, or dare we?

It is called MONOPOLY. Jimmy Carter recently said that we are ruled by global oligarchies and now the press is also owned.

owned

““In March, 1915, the J.P. Morgan interests, the steel, shipbuilding, and powder interest, and their subsidiary organizations, got together 12 men high up in the newspaper world and employed them to select the most influential newspapers in the United States and sufficient number of them to control generally the policy of the daily press….They found it was only necessary to purchase the control of 25 of the greatest papers. “An agreement was reached; the policy of the papers was bought, to be paid for by the month; an editor was furnished for each paper to properly supervise and edit information regarding the questions of preparedness, militarism, financial policies, and other things of national and international nature considered vital to the interests of the purchasers.”- Oscar Callaway, U.S. Congressman, 1917

We still have a relatively free Social Media but for how long? King Obama gave away USA control of the Internet? I think Social Media has evolved too far for it to become monopolized by the global elite.

About Bad Banking
The seeds for the crash of 2008 were sown at the end of Bill Clinton’s watch and this was a turning point. An inept president, corrupt banks a corrupt narrative and corrupt authorities. Hillary denies this. What cannot be denied is that she is in bed with the big banks.

The country is still reeling from the consequences of the 2008 banking crisis when the American taxpayer money was used to not only bail out inept and inefficient and corrupt American banks & investment houses, but also insult to injury, the American taxpayer even paid out the foreign, European banks. Did you know about this illegal stealing, American taxpayer? The news has been strangely silent.  The consequences are yet to hit us in inflation.

Politics should be about electing good leaders to represent us. Now a corrupt press works with bad political consultant’s to try to “smear” the candidates rather than to present an honest track record and/or ability.

Ben Carson admits politics is a dirty game, and that Trump, himself, is guilty. However, when Trump goes for an opponent, he has the ability to ferret out a genuine (often personal) weakness.  Trump will ONLY attack after he himself is first attacked; there is some honor there. Nor does he lie; he does not slide down into the rotten treacle of black propaganda.

Definition of black propaganda – with lies and innuendo seeking to destroy another’s reputation.  Dr Ben has faulty memory, Trump is anti-women, Trump is racialist, Trump is anti-Muslim, these slurs are just not true; but being made true by being repeated over and over in an unworthy press-political attack.

Crooked people are drawn to a crooked leader and it seems the press is happy to go along.

The Clinton Cabal Campaign was about Power, not about improving conditions for ALL THE PEOPLE.  The Obama years was about using the idle poor to enrich the idle rich. That stops right now. No more benefits for the idle poor benefiting the idle rich as they continue to steal from the hardworking man in the middle. This is what the press should be investigating and reporting on. The press should be investigating and pulling this scam apart. If all the people in the one percent were truly productive it would be a great world. But that is not the way it is. More than half have earned their wealth by corruption and keep their wealth by corruption; i.e. by political favor. That stops with a Trump presidency.

It is good to differentiate between the idle rich and the productive rich. The productive rich make a true contribution to the greater good. The idle rich prey on the people. Into what class idle or productive, can we place Hillary?  She (with poor production record) fits the classic definition of “idle rich” Is she a freeloader? She left the White House poor (stealing the furniture) but is now worth 31.3 million dollars.

The connection between Obama, Hillary and Saul Alinsky should also be noted:  (Hillary’s thesis at University was done on the work of Saul Alinsky) .

Alinsky’s radical rules are a simplification of Lenin’s plan for conquest of the world. In Lenin’s writings “we the people” are seen as “Useful Idiots” to be scammed, manipulated and used.

01orwell

Here is Alinsky’s advice to the elite oligarchies and crooked politicians TO HELP THEM KEEP THEIR DIRTY AND UNFAIR PRIVILEGE.

  1. Class Warfare: Divide the people into the wealthy & the poor, and all other factions. Pit one faction against the other. Easier to keep the people down, if you keep them busy fighting each other.
  2. Religion: Religion brings with it a Moral Code that is at best awkward for the crooked elite, and at worst dangerous. Elites MUST remove God from all things public.
  3. Education – take control of what people listen to or watch or read. Also take control of the Education agenda; what children are taught will define our future.
  4. Welfare – take control of all aspects of welfare – if the people are beholden to the State they will be too afraid of losing their livelihood to revolt.
  5. Gun Control – you have to remove the ability of the people to defend themselves against an oppressive government.
  6. Increase Debt – in this way you can increase taxation, poverty and fear.
  7. Poverty – Increase poverty – poor people are far easier to control
  8. Healthcare – Control Healthcare and you control the people
  9. In the war of political PR, pick a target, freeze it, personalize and polarize it. This is what they succeeded in doing to Romney in 2012, and what the Hillary consultants are now trying to do to Donald Trump.

All past efforts to mis-define Trump have failed. It is a new day for Main Stream Media and I am not sure if all will survive the new presidency. They tried every which way to STOP him and failed, and now it is curving back in on them.

The Trump movement is too good, too big and too strong AND THE PEOPLE HAVE HIS BACK.

ben

Don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be anybody’s “useful idiot”

So wise up and get your political data from trusted sources, not the cowering media or crooked Hillary or phony Obama, both in love with Alinsky.

Let us agree to turn off our TVs until the media wises up, SET UP BETTER INTERNAL QUALITY CONTROLS, and the Press goes searching for the truth.

The Fair Tax

Excerpt from Politics IOU by Grandma Thunder.

taxes

There are two kinds of people: those who give and those who take.

There are two kinds of citizens: those who produce and those who consume.

All people give and take and produce and consume, but it is important to weigh in as a giver and a producer.

There are citizens that do great work in the larger corporations and employees who do good work in the public sector and then there are hard-working small businesses with entrepreneurs working 24/7. There are some citizens who even hold down more than one job or one business to make ends meet. There are producers in both the private and public sectors and it is this kind of person that drives the economy.

Typically under our current tax burden workers pay more than 30% in income taxes, not to mention the gas tax (going up) and property tax (going up) the state tax (going up) and the sales tax and the fire tax and  the death tax and and and,  and on and on  . . .

If all that tax money could be turned into spending, it would boost the private sector, and they who are the biggest employer of all, could hire more employees. As these new employees begin to  pay taxes themselves, it is a win-win situation putting more tax money into the tax coffers.

It is when the volume of taxes goes up that  the public officials get a raise!

It is not how much a single citizen pays in taxes (rich or poor) it is how many workers there are out there paying taxes; it is a horizontal benefit, not a vertical liability. We all win when the tax burden is spread over the many.

This is just a preamble to introduce the concept of a  Fair Tax.

The argument for a fairer tax is that the rich hide their wealth in the mountains or on the islands, or in tax free havens. The less they pay, the more the burden falls on the corporate worker. the rich could be taxed more but they are astute to the degree that if they were taxed more they would just go hide their money elsewhere ( beyond the borders of the nation) and it is a big world to get lost in. Yet even the rich cannot hide their consumption.

In addition there is the whole under-cover illegal economy of organized crime, but why mount a costly war going after them? They also cannot hide their consumption.

Indigents on welfare are sometimes dishonest and we heard yesterday of a man and woman on welfare who have eight Big-Screens in their home and all have been funded by the taxpayer dollar. Welfare criminals can defraud the system, but they cannot hide their consumption.

Thrifty public workers are rewarded by the Fair Tax.

If taxes are taken out on consumption rather than on income, innovation is protected. Those who invest their money, not in the market, but in their own businesses or a side business. This we want, for it is they who point the economy towards prosperity and when they are finally multiplied, we have a system that is not only fair but also increases the number of workers in the nation.

So taxing ONLY on consumption is a no-brainer.

For all those in government who genuinely want to find better ways to increase the nation’s productivity, think hard and long about our complex tax system, which was designed to be an obfuscation; it was always designed to be unfair.

You are challenged to think it through, and if you are honest with yourself , you will conclude that prosperity can come back with a  FAIR TAX.

Co-sponsor the Fair Tax.

Why it is so important to Protect our Civil Liberties

Is it not the job of every American to protect our heritage?

If you look at his map you will see that, although the USA is flawed, we are still among the luckiest people in the world.

Map of Freedom

In the United States we enjoy many rights that we hold dear: the right to worship freely, the right to think freely and to voice our opinions. Note that this system bequeathed to us by our founding fathers is in no way perfect, but this map shows us that we are still far ahead of the rest of the world. South America is not yet free but it is coming along.

If we are all to win the influence has to go from North to South and not the other way around. And as far as the rest of the world we need to make sure that the influence goes from West to East and that we do not accept totalitarianism.

Ours is not a fast system. Where we have erred is in trying to enforce our reality on others, to make them accept democracy too quickly.  These maps show clearly the advantage our system has in the world and given time and good leaders other countries will come to see this also. The problem is one of education, not war and the Internet is helping.

It has taken a long time for our politics to become inclusive. Society has had to grow beyond the bad idea of excluding certain segments of the population, like blacks and women. There are two more battles still playing out along these lines and these are gay rights and the rights of illegal aliens. Give it a little more time and these problems will also sort themselves out. We can’t short change the process We cannot prevent discrimination or even exploitation, but we are not all that far from making all people equal under the law.

Politics has been evolving in one other significant way. This is in a growing ability for the people to demand honest politicians. Finally we have the technology to demand transparency in government. At little or no cost we are now able to track the actions of our elected officials via the Internet. There is a simple truth and that is that corruption and evil cannot survive when the light of day is shone upon them.

Transparency International defines corruption as the abuse of entrusted power for private gain. It may surprise you to find that we in America enjoy relatively clean government, for there is a correlation between democracy and corruption. That said we still have a way to go. You can play your part by taking on the civic duty of watching your elected officials and writing them whenever they get out of line.

THE MAP OF CORRUPTION

Map of Corruption

With the unique opportunity afforded us by the world wide web we are now able to hold our elected officials accountable. Power corrupts and the truth is that it is we who keep our policies in line but only if we are vigilant.

I laugh when I hear of Congresses low approval rate. Hello! Who is to blame? I don’t think I have the right to speak out or complain, except when I am doing my job to keep them in line. I think that is why the founding fathers blessed me with freedom of speech.

I write regularly to my representatives and have been gratified by observing positive change. It is easy to communicate regularly with your elected officials via

Downsize DC (https://downsizedc.org/)

Popvox (https://www.popvox.com/)

Popvox tries to bridge the gap between the input the public wants to provide and the information U.S. Senators and Representatives want from us.

Downsize DC wants to downsize and decentralize the government by restoring constitutional limits and the Bill of Rights.

Both sites make it easy to communicate to elected officials and both sites are informative.

We have had another election and this time there has been a major shift in power. Now Obama wants to turn back the clock. In no way a good idea.

Most Americans don’t know this Crucial History

The Futility of another War with ISIS

Courtesy of Consent Chronicle -.THE EASY WAY TO EDUCATE OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS.

Can We Learn the Lessons of History?

By Perry Willis, Vice President, Downsize DC

War with ISIS will achieve nothing. It will only create new enemies and dangers. We can know this because history tells us so.

soldier fighting plane

Consider the chain of cause and effect….

ISIS exists because we went to war with Saddam Hussein in 2003. Before that…

We went to war with Hussein, because he…

* Supposedly had weapons of mass destruction

* Attacked his neighbors

* Used chemical weapons against his citizens

But we were actually complicit in ALL of these things because…

* The U.S. Government gave Hussein the chemical weapons (http://dailym.ai/1xIknoE)

* The U.S. Government urged Hussein to fight Iran

* Our Ambassador gave Hussein a “green light” to invade Kuwait in 1991

In other words…

Hussein warred against his neighbors with our approval, and murdered his own people using weapons we gave him. But the chain of connections goes deeper into history…

We supported Iraq against Iran because Iran had seized our embassy in 1980. But the CIA had used that same Embassy in 1953 to overthrow a democratic government in favor of the dictatorial Shah.

Can you begin to see how every intervention leads to future enemies?

It will be the same with ISIS.

But let’s continue digging through the history…

We overthrew Iran’s government, because we didn’t want the Soviet Union to take over. But the Soviet Union was yet another enemy we had created during an earlier foreign intervention. Here’s how that happened…

In 1917, the Russian people deposed the Czar and created a democracy. We then bribed this new democracy to continue fighting in World War 1, even though the Russian people wanted peace. This action, by us, created the conditions that led to the Bolshevik revolution and the birth of the Soviet Union just a few month’s later.

But the chain of mistakes doesn’t end there. It just keeps going…

The reason we bribed Russia to continue fighting in World War 1, was because we wanted to defeat an earlier enemy, the Kaiser. But defeating the Kaiser paved the way for Hitler. Sum it up….

* We got Hitler and Stalin, because we intervened in World War 1

* We got Mao and North Korea and Vietnam, because we invited Stalin to fight the Japanese in World War 2

* We got radically-Islamic Iran, because we deposed a democratic government over fear of the Soviet Union

* We got the Saddam Hussein boogeyman, because we encouraged him to fight Iran

* And now we have ISIS, because we got rid of Saddam Hussein

When will it end? It will only end when Americans learn the lessons of history. The record is very clear. Our government is no good at foreign intervention. It needs to stop intervening.

It needs to bring home the troops.

third partyNote from Grandma
It is simple. All we have to do is conquer is our fear for this is what is used to manipulate us. It would be good for the majority to wake up.

What they need to come to see is that inevitably the motivation behind war is money.
War is very profitable. The one percent are in love with war. That is how they control us.

When we are stupid and uninformed and fearful we get manipulated by massive propaganda to accept and support wars that are not in our best interest  and this record of history shows us just how futile that has been.

Worse than that we come to condone bad acts done to the people of other nations. This is truly NOT OKAY!

The reason why:

It is simple.  War is control to the financial “evil” oligarchies that are now running the world.

Next tier down there are investing and banking interests eager to make money out of armaments.

Next tier down there is a military/industrial complex which has no real purpose now that America is a super power. So in order to justify their existence and get their greedy hands on our taxpayer money, they have to fabricate (and fund?) wars around the globe.

What is needed here is a thorough investigation to find out who is actually creating and funding ISIS.

We also need to track the connection between ISIS and efforts to manipulate the 2016 presidential election.

We owe it to ourselves, to our sons and daughters  to seek out true data. This is done by conquering our fear.

Voter Fraud

April 2016

I wish it weren’t true  but Election 2016 is on a fast track to follow the predictions (and the corruption) described in Politics IOU which free book you should read to find out how we can all work together to make 2016 come out right. This excerpt is relevant to the 2016 election in November.

liberty

There was evidence of voter fraud both in the Democratic and GOP Primaries.

Voter ID is a contentious subject, strongly protested by the left who feel that it discriminates against the old and the uneducated. It could be argued that a citizen who cannot make effort to prove that they are a legal citizen at the polling booth, is not part of the social contract and should not be entitled to vote. Finally we have to ask as much evidence is now surfacing to the contrary, is it right that illegal immigrants be allowed to vote? Did they make their illegal voice heard in 2012? Did they improperly influence the outcome of the last four years?

01 voterfraud obama

You see what the founding fathers did not know, could not know as they were crafting the constitution, was that up the line there would be a digital Revolution and computers and electronics would undo their carefully crafted checks and balances.

Computers should enhance our democracy. With computers it is possible to cross check voting lists and cull dead or duplicate voters. Like fire that can be used to build and heal, or to destroy, computers could open the door to a golden age.  It is all in how the electorate lets them be used.

Read this extract which is in the book Politics IOU (about corrupt politicians, global clout and especially about the digital revolution and its influence on our politics) It explains how we can use computers, not to change the system or constitution, but to enhance its implementation and to make a better America.

**************************

The Wrong way for Computers to Count our Votes. (excerpt from Politics IOU)

In this excerpt from “Politics IOU” it is the blogger, Majula, who is explaining that there is a wrong way to count votes with computers.

Once upon a feudal time it was difficult for villagers to participate in the process of government. So they put a man on a horse and sent him to speak for them in the big city and representative government was born. Our choice at that time; predictable rule of law where we can trust each other because we all know the rules or rule by a corrupt king who arbitrarily killed eight wives, killed the acceptable religion, and was determined to tax without representation. The founders understood and warned us that each generation would have to fight executive clout, and corruption, but there was one thing they could not know and that is that one day television and computers would change everything.

It is a sad truth that when some men (or women) rise to greater heights they kick against the constraints of rule of law.

Power corrupts and it has been said that the love of power corrupts absolutely. What of the love of money? There are some men who will do anything for money. There are some men who will do anything for power. With them the end justifies the means and we all need to learn to recognize them and vote them out of office. This we cannot do IF THEY DO NOT COUNT THE VOTES ACCURATELY and if they are corrupt they know this.

In the close runoff between Kyani Ryken and Senator Norman McClosky it was not at all clear who was going to win. The tie-breaker was Shadow State and for the first time in living history the votes there were being counted by computer. Because of my strong interest in changes introduced by the Digital Revolution, I was invited to be an observer. Shortly after arriving at the polling booths in the early morning I had already identified several areas of concern.

“Where are the checks and balances?” I asked the officials.

“What?”

“‘Duh!’ They were officiating and had no idea of what I was talking.

“Well…” I said, trying to make it simple, so that they could follow, ”How do you know that these computer totals will be accurate?”

“It is all done by computers now,” said the official, clearly exasperated that I was making such a fuss.

“Well yes,” I said, “and you don’t see any problem?”

“No,” the man furrowed his brow.

“Computer-counting is great! We don’t have to do anything,” said his sweet, young assistant.

“No I don’t think so,” I said carefully, “there are, there really are such things as bugged programs.”

“‘Don’t you worry your pretty head Majula,” the official said. “Computers are far more accurate than manual counting.”

“Do you have any kind of manual check at all?” I asked.

I did not want to take away their simple faith in computers, for I, too, am in love with my computer. But I know computers and that is why I also know that there is a right and a wrong way to transition from manual vote-counting to having the computers do it all for you.

So what would be the right way?

It’s a no-brainer. The voter votes and the computer counts and prints a receipt. Have the voter verify his vote, sign the receipt and pop it into a ballot box. These are the votes that are manually counted if there is a challenge to that particular county total.  In most elections these receipts won’t be needed but by their very existence, the integrity of the election is insured. These were the checks and balances I was expecting, but I didn’t see them.

I called both campaigns, but was unable to reach Kyani Ryken. Then I talked to Ginger McClosky. The candidate’s wife got it immediately. Within minutes there were volunteers conducting exit poll surveys. You could see the volunteers in poll booths all across the state.

In the end it was a very close race and the computers awarded the election to Kyani Ryken, Norman McClosky conceded victory and it was all over. The computers had informed the nation that Kyani Ryken had won 52% of the vote. This cannot be challenged when the computers do the counting. So what is the problem?

The problem is that the exit polls got it quite differently. They gave Senator Norman McClosky a 54% lead.

I don’t know if the first election was fraudulent for I have no way of proving it either way when those counts were hidden in computers. What I do know is that proper checks and balances were not put in on that first primary election.

We are in a digital transition and as we change from the manual counting to digital machines, it really, really has to be done right.

*************************

The un-american global elite effort to cut America down to size, subordinate our people to global oligarchies, has been progressing in little increments over many years.  2016 is the year we have a chance to stop the rot.  But we have to be vigilant. As Kissinger is once quoted as saying, “The illegal we do immediately, the unconstitutional takes a little longer.” We still have some time. However, if we lose in 2016, especially if we lose due to voter fraud, it is all over. That is the end of America as we know it. We will be wallowing in a sea of corruption.

The leaked Democratic emails show voter fraud with suspected tampering of the counting machines, by the Clinton Campaign against primary opponent Bernie Sanders. Will they also use voter fraud again as a last resort to STOP Donald Trump? The bad news is that Obama is now determined to have the Department of Homeland Security oversee the election. He is entrusting “all voting machines” to the care of DHS.  Is this a good idea, I think not.

Obama wants DHS oversee the November election

Obama wants DHS oversee the November Election

Jeh Johnson heads the DHS. He was appointed to the post by Obama himself. Can he be considered an objective player in this contest? Before he ascended to this post, he was active in Democratic Party politics as a fundraiser and adviser to the Kerry & Obama presidential campaigns.  Furthermore, as this election is shaping up to be more about Global vs. Patriot than Democrat vs Republican, Johnson has come right out and shown where he stands. In a speech in January 2011 he erroneously claimed that the imperial wars in Iraq & Afghanistan were quite in line with Martin Luther King thinking, and that he supported them.  Now Obama, returning from the United Nations, wants this man to oversee the elections. I think not.

In his last speech to the UN  Obama came right out and said that Americans must be willing to lose freedoms in order to submit to an International New World Order. So we know where Obama stands on the key issues of this election. He is a globalist through and through.

I remind all true Republicans that this election is about is preserving the Republic, that which made America Great. It is about restricting government to only government by the consent of the governed. It is about a smaller Federal Government. It is about eliminating duplicate functions in the Intelligence Bureaucracy and making government more effective. It is about restoring and protecting the constitutional balance of power between the Executive, the Judiciary and the Legislature. It is all about giving the people a voice in how they prosper. So much depends on honest elections.

Without signed receipts kept for manual counting in the event there is a challenged county tally, votes should not be counted by computers.

The paper trail has the extra value in that it acts as an ethical check which may not ever need to be there. Yet knowing that it exists deters corrupt politicians who would not dare to risk the bad PR of a fraudulent count.

Power corrupts and it has been said that the love of power corrupts absolutely.
The amount of privilege and corrupt money that will go away with a Trump presidency is astronomical. The banks and global elite won’t stop at voter fraud. There are some men (or women) who will do anything for power.

Lost Prosperity

Small Business Trends
(Excerpt from  ”Politics IOU” by Margaret Lynn Verhoeff AKA Grandma Thunder}

Spider didn’t want to go out for fast-food!  It reminded him too much of his early, humble beginnings.

Their fancy restaurant was closed. After thirty years in business it had closed it doors. Had it been open, few vendors attending their annual get- together would have been able to afford the fancy meal they had all so very much enjoyed in better years.  The vendors had been meeting together at the same restaurant for six or seven years. He was sorry to see the restaurant go under for it’s superb style had meant something to him.  He and his young wife were still going to be getting together with their friends to welcome in the New Year, but maybe for the last time.  Spider wondered how many vendors would come, surely fewer than the prior year, and definitely a much smaller number than in the good years when it was still possible to make a living as a vendor.

Would he and Ginsee meet with them the following year? He really had no idea.

closing down

Spider had grown up on the streets in Workingman’s City. He understood  what it took to keep a small business afloat during the hard times. As a street urchin, he had been fed and helped by some of the kinder Workingman City small shop owners.  As he had grown he was too proud to accept a hand-out, and he had worked for his keep, doing whatever he could do to help those who had helped him.. A few shopkeepers had discovered that he was good with numbers and that was how he had come to learn the small business, economic model.

Later he had had the good fortune and the smarts to escape Workingman’s City, to get himself a degree in economics, and to enter the corporate world. That didn’t work out for he was too much a free spirit to adapt to the corporate hierarchy.

He had quit the corporate world after he had met the ethereal Ginsee. She was as light and white as he was dark and wiry, twelve years younger than he.  They had agreed to start a small business together and for ten years they had made a good living selling art, while visiting some of the more prestigious offices and hospitals, helping with fundraising and bringing a little cheer to the corporate employees. After marrying they had purchased a cabin on the edge of the high protected forest in the mountains of Shadow County from where they traveled out to do their shows. The terrain was as different from Working Man City as Spider could find. His favorite sport was rock climbing; he loved to hang halfway between heaven and earth. It was his agility as a rock climber that had earned him the nickname, Spider.

He loved his young wife deeply, and they very rarely quarreled; both upbeat souls, they seemed to agree on most things. But as they got ready to go to the fast food restaurant where they were meeting the other vendors, a fight was starting that was shaping up to be a doozy.

“You are planning to quit aren’t you, Spider? “ She made the accusation in a tone laced with make-wrong. She was right, he had been figuring on how to frame an elegant exit strategy from the game he and Ginsee had played for over ten years.

He was silent for a beat, he hadn’t told her, she had guessed. “I’ll be honest with you, Ginsee I have been looking at it,” he said.

“You mean you are actually thinking of stopping the mobile gallery?” she asked with narrowed eyes.

“Not ever leaving you, just quitting the business,” he said and smiled. It was said to reassure her but it didn’t have the required effect.

“You want us to just quit!”

“Uh-huh.”

“Because?”

“Because we are losing money.”

“And we don’t have enough to ride it out? “

“Of course we do, but that is not the point.” he had spent his money on property and invested astutely.

“What is the point?”

“Are you sure you don’t want to just stop, Ginsee.?” She was surprising him. It had been hard on her too of late.

“You can quit Spider but I for one am not going under.” It was said with a firmness that was quite unlike her and he was caught flatfooted by her reaction. While he could or not have their small business, he was stunned to see that she was emotional about losing it. He decided that like a house sacrificed to the mortgage crisis, there is a lot of feeling invested in a small business, especially a family business or one lasting several years like theirs.

”You don’t want to go do something new? There are lots of things we can do.”

‘“Absolutely not!”

It was said with such firmness that he stood there just looking at her.

“So you’re a quitter Spider?”

“I am not a quitter,” he said.

“You quit the corporate world and now you are quitting small business”  It came across as a make-wrong and put him on the defensive.

“You need to wake up, Ginsee, times have changed.”  He said it with a touch of patronization that he instantly regretted. She always reacted badly to that, knowing that she wasn’t as well educated as he.

“I don’t care!”  She had tears in her eyes.

He back pedaled and said patiently “With the volunteer strike we lost our biggest account, the hospital.  Add to that that there are just too many Corporations leaving Shadow County. You have to admit Ginsee that our accounts have been dwindling. We are operating in a playing field that is contracting.”

“I know that Spider.”

They had recently gone into a large office building, one of their bigger accounts, only to find that three office wings had been evacuated. The lights were off and the wind was howling down the corridors.

“Where are all the people,” she had asked.

“They have all been shipped  to the Third World,” said a loyal customer, one of the few who had staid. In the Third World corporate employees could be had for ten on the dime.

“What about the Shadow County fiasco? It could happen again,” he said.

The County Supervisors had axed what had been a win-win activity. For almost thirty years vendors had gone into the Shadow County offices to create events, partnering with the Shadow County Employees to support charities. What sat in Spider’s craw was that he knew that the popular vendor events served the county employees in many ways that the supervisors didn’t even begin to appreciate.  It brought them unusual products and gave them a worthwhile game.  What Spider had most hated was that shortly before the guillotine had fallen, he had spent over two thousand dollars to fill special orders for a County facility where he could now no longer go. There had been no warning.

What he had loved about their County events was the spontaneity. In one company an inspired worker had adopted a family and helped them celebrate the Year-end. Soon the other employees had jumped aboard to where he found that their commission was helping over a hundred families in the community. Spider loved that. When you donate to big charity it is the bureaucrats who get the money.  Furthermore he understood that when the public sector failed to support the private sector, the tax base began to shrink and that was what caused government layoffs and the beginning of a dwindling spiral. How Spider hated BIG government in bed with BIG corporations and now also in bed with BIG charities.

“The dice is loaded against small business; think of Fred and your pool.”  He was still trying to win her over to his point of view.

Fred Kent was their framer; a man who had been very much a part of the success of their business. When the economy had turned down Spider had gone to him to ask how much he owed the banks, fearing the worst because Fred had undergone a big expansion just before the slide. The framer had been a prudent man, and now owned his property outright. When he told Spider that he owed nothing, Spider had hugged him.  With this framer on their supply lines, Spider had known they could prevail whatever government chose to do with the economy.  Yet they had just heard that Fred had, had to layoff some staff and cut his warehouse-space in half, renting out the part.  He didn’t have big business debts but there were always the operating costs, costs that were going up due to inflation. Ginsee’s physical therapist had also layed off staff and closed the pool, she said too many silly regulations for the pool, and heating costs were prohibitive. She was also operating with half the space she had enjoyed before in the better times.

“But they are not quitting, Zafia is not quitting, and Fred is not quitting.  They offer so much that I know they will survive. What I don’t like is that you are wanting to quit, Spider.”

“What is going on here Ginsee, this is not at all like you?”he asked. Usually she meekly followed his lead.

“What I don’t like is that It is all Corkscrew’s fault; we quit and he wins.”

“What?” He was still smarting from being called a quitter, and still hadn’t figured out what the conversation was about, so he said, “Yet you voted for him.”

Corkscrew was a little rotund man, with indeterminate color and big ears.  He was their elected President. Spider, a strong supporter of the Constitution had gone to the president-elect’s website and had been able to read the socialist agenda that was couched between the lines and had not voted for him. Many innocent voters like Ginsee had been taken in. This had been before they were married.

“Yes damn you Spider I did vote for him and I regret it. That was before you educated me. I have come to see that this president is bad for the New World,”  Spider inclined his head. It was the first time she had acknowledged his views on Corkscrew.

It was their friend Jamboree who had given the devious President the name Corkscrew in her saucy blog, ”Pink Salt”. The post had gone viral and the name had stuck,.

satirical on corruption

“I wouldn’t worry Ginsee, the cadaverous senators supporting the man are already half dead. It is just a matter of time before they all go down.” Ginsee didn’t smile.

“Seriously Spider, the man has far too much power.”

“You think?”

“Yes.”

“And what has this to do with our business?”

“What is it we sell Spider?”

“Framed art.”

“No. Think about it, what do we advertise all the time?  We advertise ‘quality of life’. ”

Spider had to concede that what she was saying was true: for their tagline was ‘Quality of Life that is Affordable.’

“Think back to your horrible life in Working Man’s city.”  she continued intensely.

He looked at her now fully engaged, remembering tract upon tract of drab square government houses.

“So?”

“So what happened in Working Man’s City is happening right here and now in Shadow County.  Did you see what they have done to the foothills? They are scraping off the tops of the hillocks to level the ground.  At least in Working Man’s City it was flat to start with.”

“They are trying to make everything flat?” He hated that.

“That is right. You didn’t know? ”

“No.”

“It is all going to be all flat and ugly here.” She was still teary..

“Socialism is ugly.”

“Socialism is the big equalizer, I know how you hate that.”

She smiled at him and he smiled back. They were talking again.

“He is screwing with us, Spider, but that is not why I don’t want to quit.  We make aesthetics and quality of life affordable for the ordinary man. It is now hard times, and I don’t want to also take that away from our customers. Going on is the least we can do. I don’t want to take a quality of life away from the people that we have served for over ten years.”

Spider got it. He finally got it. He went over to her and hugged her.

“I understand.” How far his fairy princess had come since he had married her. She was amazing! She was awesome!

“”And we will stay in business and flourish and prosper?”

“Yes.”

“To flourish and prosper we are going to have to handle Corkscrew.”

“That too.”

Greedy Banking

Corrupt  Banking destroys Capitalism and Prosperity

greed

Letting the market adjust in accordance with pricing determined by supply and demand is fair and it is far more efficient than leaving it to politicians.  You don’t believe Grandma? You are in good company for nobody on the far, far right or the far left would ever agree. Don’t be deceived by these extremes in both parties, (Republican and Democrats) for this is actually one group not two, and the divide is artificial. Liberty Lovers define these politicians as Statists. Statists can be defined as those who want to keep and protect the status-quo. AIG and cronies (assholes in greed) earning big bonuses in a casino designed by bankers, are the prime defenders of the status-quo. They want things to stay the same – investment business as usual.

The big question is – has business as usual given us a fair and workable distribution of American wealth and resources. Take a few minutes to examine the true facts and you may find the situation more dire than the propaganda line.

Watch this video: mind blowing facts

Now are you ready to listen up here, and help Grandma educate and spread the word?  If you care, your hat is to make what is really going on real to voters in 2014. This is a critical year. Grandma believes that the world is on a tipping point and the outcome of the next two elections, will decide our fate. Free and Prosperous again? Maybe, but maybe not?

This is the second in grandma’s series.of educational posts about free market economics.  In the first post she used an anecdotal example, introducing Tom and Sally who both work in the canteen in a VA hospital. In that first post it was Sally who was promoted and as she began to earn more money, she put her surplus in a bank owned by Dick. In the first post we also met small business owner Harry who has a furniture factory/shop and it is Dick the banker who financed his enterprise and helped him to take it up to the next level. Harry got his loan for ten thousand dollars from banker Dick and he paid ten percent for the privilege of using the bank’s money. He invested this money in machinery and raw materials and his enterprise prospered.

The fundamental problem is that the money was never Dicks. It was money deposited in his bank by hard worker Sally and many others like her.  The loan Harry got from Dick was for ten years and he was to pay it back in ten years or else Harry would be subject to a penalty. The penalty was that if not paid in ten years, compound interest would accrue.

Harry did well and in the beginning even Sally was rewarded with a good return on her deposited money.. Here we find Dick the banker engaged in a constructive activity.  This is how Capitalism works in the ideal.

Then Dick got greedy!

There is a problem with people who work only with numbers, for it is easy to have a disconnect. Decisions are made and policies put in place that are not for the greatest good. I think most Americans sense that there is something wrong, they just don’t understand how it works. So they cannot use elections to right the wrongs. The answer is to educate them. .

This is exactly what went wrong: When there is a corrupt marriage between government and banking,  it is possible that Harry’s loan can be corrupted. In our example Banker Dick got greedy and decided to charge compound interest from the get-go and to add insult to injury  to make these charges retroactive. Then to make matters even worse  he cut Sally’s interest rate to way lower than 5%.  How was he able to put his hand in the cookie jar an get away with this stealing?

 Politicians propitiating

This is the exact point where an honest government (justice department) should have stepped in to play umpire and to say, “Oh no, hold it right there Dick There was an agreement here between you and Harry and an agreement between you and Sally and you are unilaterally changing the rules.

When government (which is force) gives Dick the right to change the terms of his agreements, the system has been corrupted by the force of government and we no longer have Capitalism. Do you think it right that banks can change the terms of agreements without even asking you? Does that sound just a little bit familiar; just a little bit too close to home? When did banks last change the interest rates on you? It is always all hidden in the small print.

“But that is not what we agreed to,” wails Harry.  “I am perfectly happy to pay a penalty if I default, but . . . ”  Well if Dick is contributing to election coffers, and has the politicians in his pocket, poor Harry can protest as much as he wants and there will be nobody there listening. Government (especially DOJ) is no longer playing umpire and properly calling the fouls. In short they have quit doing their job.

(Incidentally Grandma believes that DOJ has not played umpire since just after Lincoln was assassinated, and the Executive took over the Department of Justice.)

A fair transaction is one where both parties agree and both parties benefit and the transaction is transparent. If the bank persuades its buddy, big government to allow it to charge compound interest from the get go, the system has been corrupted and banks (who are in no way producers) are getting an unfair slice of the dice. If the banks persuade big government to also let them have floating rates of interest, fractional banking and variable penalties, this destroys Capitalism and our prosperity.

So let’s pretend a little longer: Another banker, Banker Dikhead, sees Harry doing well and casts his greedy eye on Harry’s loan.  So he goes to Banker Dick and says “I want to buy that loan from you”.Can he do this? Was there an honest transaction between Harry and Dikhead? Of course not. Both Dick and Dikhead’s confusion is that a loan is a product or a service when what it actually is, is a private agreement between Dick and Harry that ought to be honored. This is a point where justice should be stepping in, but this has not happened for a very long time.

If Justice allows Dick to sell the loan to Investor Dikhead, who in turn sells it to banker Moby Dick who passes it along to Savings and Loan, Dikneck, we get a “dick, thick” market that is filled with sludge, and everything slows down. In a slow, confused economy poverty enters in. We all get poorer and even the super rich will eventually get sucked into the dwindling spiral. Even if some good politician were to bring about a fair exchange for the electorate, it has now become almost impossible because we no longer have clear and clean transactions and government has a corrupted organizing board where even justice has become the tool of the super rich.

To add to all the silliness in the system, let us say that investor Dick Sorrowmaker looks it over and he says “Mmmm, I think we may have a bubble here. (sound familiar?) I shall bet my sorry fortune that this bubble is going to pop!” Of course it is going to pop because it has no intrinsic economic integrity.  Dick Sorrowmaker wins his bet and gets to be one of richest men in the world, profiting from a decline, a burst economic bubble; and it is downright scary that he can get away with it. I mean be objective here. Should any investor be able to profit from a decline?   This is crazy economics. This is our market place turned into a Casino Investors should profit only from a predicted  increase then they will use their money and influence in that direction.

And what of the unintended consequences? We now have an investor who was able to buy countries and politicians and radically change elections and not always for the better. Is Dick Sorrowmaker a producer? Investors, bankers and politicians, none of them are producers.

Oligarchy defines a society or a system that is ruled and dominated by a small minority of the top wealthiest (corrupt) citizens. Oligarchy is a way to enrich the few at the cost of the many. So the free market ceases to function and Capitalism becomes a system in name only. Those who are at least up to seeing the inequities tend to embrace socialism as the solution. Socialism has one major flaw.  The common denominator in the decline of honest banking has been a lack of banking integrity and the greed of bankers and an inept Justice Department.   Capitalism detractors see this as a flaw in the free market system. Yet what it truly is, is a flaw in government and a corruption of justice. Will more corrupt government fix it? Unfortunately power creates an appetite for more power.  We can now see evidence globally of international bankers embracing socialism as their new “great scam” to consolidate their hold over us and our wealth.

In a free economy Harry gets his loan, buys new machinery and starts to make fancy decks and sun porches. He employs new workers who are paid fairly. Employment goes up. This new market he has newly found is wide open and he can keep his furniture at an even keel and depend on the new products for his profit. He has already learned all the woodworking tricks that will take him successfully into his next venture.  The price for his furniture and for his decks will be determined not by government but by supply and demand. True Capitalism is governed by self interest, but it is the community’s cumulative transactions (the market) that has the power to transform self interest into the greatest good for the greatest number “as if by an invisible hand”

Audit the FED

.

government bad control

How’d you like it that every single dollar the federal government spent is “off the books”? No budget. No recordkeeping.

If you’re up in arms about our federal government’s $3.8 TRILLION on-the-books annual spending (and you should be), what do you say about the Federal Reserve putting the American people on the hook for $16 TRILLION in secret bailouts to crony capitalists and overseas banks as happened in secret only recently?

Rand Paul the Senator from Kentucky has newly introduced S. 209, the Audit the Fed bill.  He Is doing  everything he can to EXPOSE the Fed and stop Ben Bernanke’s economic snake oil “solutions” and he should be supported before we begin to find a loaf of bread now costs us  $10 or $20 or upwards of $30 dollars.

You may think we should not panic, and that there is no cause for concern. Don’t  buy the PR line that it is all getting better? Get the FACTS and  Insist on an audit. To solve our economic, to solve all our problems we NEED THE TRUTH. Insist on the audit.

Out of Control

We have to take action before it is too late.  We have to stand together and I think we have a chance if we STAND WITH RAND in 2016.

With our national debt spiraling out of control, and Ben Bernanke continuing to print money like there’s no tomorrow, there’s no time to waste to get educated and to make meaningful changes.

Visas for Illegal Immigrants

What is wrong with the Senate Bill?

In the middle of this contentious debate we need to remember that there are many wonderful things about the Latino Heritage. There is the music, and the dance, but most of all there is good Mexican food that has fully captured the American imagination.

latin lady dancing

                         Latino Culture

That said, the rejected Senate Illegal Immigration Bill  falls short in five key areas:

One:
It is too long and complex to gain our acceptance or trust. (Downsize DC has a great idea : One subject, one bill with its subject clearly stated in its title.)The taxpayer  has been fooled (many, many times) by hidden agendas and pork written into  long bills  What is needed is that Congress simplifies the legislative process and brings the final bill to under 550 pages – Congress really doesn’t have to please everybody with sub-clauses, exceptions can be sorted out later.  It just needs to satisfy “we the people”, AKA the majority, AKA  the taxpayer, AKA the electorate. For believe me it is the hot issue that will decide the 2016  election.  550 pages MAX!

In essence a winning solution keeps out the bad guys, lowers the cost and is compassionate and pragmatic.

Two:
Grave concerns about a Federal Work Database.Obama’s Bio-metric database will get linked to the ObamaCare and to other gazillian public benefit databases, like food stamps and childcare. Very soon the government  will know every last detail about our lives. The next step could be to tie Federal benefits to “Correct Thinking” as in George Orwell’s 1984. That is when we will have lost all liberty & privacy and embraced big brother.

It should be up to the States as to how they record and control permits for workers within their borders. Red states like Arizona should have the freedom  to implement stricter immigrant controls than do the blue states.

Three:
We are a nation ruled by laws: Illegal immigrants broke our law and need to be given a strong thinking adjustment so that they know that in this country illegal is just not the best way to go.  Fining is quick and dirty and unlikely to change bad habits. Could they get their hands dirty and do some community service to make up for all the problems they have given us?  Is five years community service enough to deter those here for teh gravy train?

Latinos, for good or for bad, are breeding at a faster rate than Caucasians. This is actually something we need in America to return to prosperity.  The structure of our system is built around the idea that the young support the old with regards to funding of government projects and benefits.  Illegal immigrants came here for a better life and they are welcome, but they have to learn the work ethic and cultural ideas that made America more prosperous than Mexico. They have to let  go of third world ideas that have destroyed their own culture .and begin to embrace the American dream.

Four:

The problem with Latinos is that while they have a beautiful culture to share, they have a slow rate of assimilation.into the American lifestyle.  The reason for this slow assimilation could well be the language, there are enough of them that they are not forced by life to speak English.

The official language in America is English; it could be French or Spanish, but right now it is English and it is the language that holds the American heritage of freedom and our culture, our laws, our justice and our traditions. At the fast rate that our friends from the South are breeding, we are already on a fast track to become a multi-lingual nation. With our low job growth and our low GDP and our exorbitant debt, we need to seriously think of the cost to the nation of having more than one official language. Cost of official papers, translators, teachers and on and on. Right now we could give a boost to an ailing economy by mandating that all official and public writings are ONLY in English.  This rule should read that every immigrant has every right to speak whatever language they choose within the confines of their own home and their own social circle;however there should be only English spoken by public servants or shopkeepers and all official writings SHOULD BE IN ENGLISH ONLY.

Latinos  and all immigrants MUST learn the language but after a reasonable time if they cannot speak the language of the land, no more benefits and no more work permits. Before an Illegal immigrant is given a green card (whatever the other conditional requirements) the illegal immigrant should be able to demonstrate a comfortable proficiency in English.  It is not that English is better than Spanish. This is not a point of arrogance. It is a way to preserve what is good about the American culture and much of that is contained in the language.

Five:
Border security is paramount.
Once we bring this crisis situation back under the law, AND UNDER CONTROL we have to draw a line and look to the future.    It may not be as bad a situation as many fearful conservatives think. A friend does the books for a Mexican company that organizes coming out parties for young Mexican girls, so he knows the Mexican  culture.  He tells me that with the dipping of the economy both in Mexico and in America,  coming across the border is not as easy or as attractive as it was before; it simply costs too much.  The price has gone up for free passage with every new increase in border security and the new costs are already prohibitive even if the fence is not yet complete.

We simply have to secure and defend our borders against illegal immigration. The cost is too high.

A part of this would be to have the law state that no immigrants are eligible for benefits like food stamps or childcare until they have paid taxes and into Social Security for ten years. This will make it far less attractive for the freeloaders, those who come over to join Obama’s gravy train.

This is a problem in education. If they cannot learn our culture, our heritage and our work ethic they are not welcome in our land. If they can, we would love to have them.  Let’s not block out the able in the world who wish to join with us in creating a better life for all of us in America and want  to work really hard to get ahead.

Finding if they are willing to learn the language and to do community service to raise the standards in their own communities, would be a good way to see if they qualify.

Obama’s Love Fest with the Latino Vote

Payback Time

Now Obama is the only president to ever secure a second term with a smaller percentage of the vote than in his first election. He got roughly 7.8 fewer million votes from whites, 1.6 million fewer voters from blacks, 1.8 million fewer votes from young voters, and four million fewer votes from women. In fact contrary to popular belief, fewer people voted in election 2012 than in any of the three previous elections.

So however did he win?

 Obama Latino supporter

What he did was shrewdly court and win the Latino vote

His share of the Latino votes rose a full 4 points to 71% giving him a full 700,000 plus additional votes from Latinos. Note this trend well; the nation’s Latino population has increased by 43% between 2000 and 2010.  One in four Americans now under the age of 18, is Latino.  The Obama-team played this demographic like maestros. Shoring up their base they were good, but on getting-out the Latino vote they were exceptional.

On getting out their loyal supporters and some independents they figured out that injustice is a great motivating force and this they used with panache. An advertisement called “537” was aired in swing states to tell the story of the 2000 Florida election where Bush won by only 537 votes. Correct election procedure mandates a recount when an election is close and if it is challenged, but this recount was disallowed by the Supreme Court. Bush got given Florida with 537 votes and he won the presidency and the course of history was changed.

So the Obama team decided that the 2012 election was payback time. It struck a chord with Democratic voters.

A big challenge in any presidential election is how to get out the vote. This is because half the people who have the privilege and the right to vote simply don’t bother and have to be corralled into doing their duty. In 2000 the born-again-Christian Bush used the churches to get out his vote.  He conquered voter apathy and won the election.

Now this voter apathy is particularly true in the Latino sector where many older citizens do not speak the language or understand the process. It is a natural disqualification that works well for democracy where the people deciding the final outcome should be educated and informed. I personally consider voter apathy a good thing. The future of a country should be determined by those who understand and those who care. There is the right to vote and then there is the responsibility to vote which ideally should be done by the person himself, without influence from others.

The Obama team in 2012 was able to get the Latino voters to emerge from their nooks and crannies, from down in the basement, out of trailers and one bedroom apartments, out of little houses with fifteen people crammed into two small rooms. How did Obama get them to come out in their thousands to the voter booths? There was a massive get-out-the vote campaign funded by such millionaires as George Soros where campaigners were paid only when they registered a Democratic voter.  Are they loyal democratic voters? Probably not, but they sure were willing to come out in their numbers to secure their food stamps.

In the five years that Obama has been in power his moral compass has been clearly expressed.  He does not necessarily elect his decisions based on what is best for the nation, but he will always return a favor.  You scratch his back and he will come through for you. So now he is determined to give his Latino supporters a colossal boost in their numbers.

Looking at what is best for the nation, or what is right, or what will perpetuate the democratic process, there is one big question that has to be asked about Election 2012. It is this:

How many of these illegal immigrants voted in election 2012 when they had no legal right to vote?

I was going to let it go, admiring the political astuteness of the Obama team  and thinking his win in 2012 was well deserved.

It was by sheer chance that I happened on a conversation of four old seasoned veterans at the Veteran Hospital in Loma Linda in California They swore (laughing so hard they were nearly falling off their chairs) that Obama was trying to turn America into a degraded third world country.

“How so?” I asked.

“It’s all over the airwaves in Mexico. The campaign staff have been promising that if they come in and are helped to vote democrat illegally, in his next term, Obama is going to grant amnesty.”

“All they want is the food-stamps!” said a Vietnam vet.

“Oh come on!”  I was not convinced. I was not born American and there are many reasons why I love this adopted country.

“Is true!”

“I don’t believe it,” I said.

They all just laughed at me, their expressions telling me they thought me silly to expect honest elections. I could also see that they thought me horribly naive

Time for fact check.(Voter fraud 2012?)

I do not speak Spanish and have no way to check into what was on audio and TV in Mexico or even in the Latino community in the USA but I was able to find some facts out that lent credence to their story.

Dead people,micky and dogs voting

Voter Fraud  -oh my!!

Here are the facts I uncovered:

  • 12 Indiana counties have more registered voters than residents.
  • The Ohio Secretary of State admitted that multiple Ohio counties have more registered voters than residents.
  • Federal records show 160 counties in ten states have over 100 percent voter registration.
  • The Florida New Majority Education Fund, Democratic party of Florida, and the National Council of La Raza are currently under investigation for voter fraud.
  • It has been found that more than 24 million voter registrations are invalid yet they still remain on the rolls nation wide.
  • There are 1.8 million dead citizens that are still on the voter roll.
  • More than 2.75 million Americans are registered to vote in more than one state.

I have also been able to ascertain that as the illegal immigrant debate moves forward there is increased activity on our Southern borders, some illegals seeking asylum from as far South as Brazil.

I do encourage Congress to conducting a thorough investigation before illegal immigrants are given any benefits, or any kind of  blanket amnesty.

Poop is not generally discussed in our daily conversation except (as now) when applied metaphorically to harsh and hard economic realities in a constipated economy. Dustin Hoffman once quipped that we know we are growing older when our conversation shifts from sex to our bowel movements.

A prosperous economy relies on a proper rate of distribution of goods and services; not too fast and not too slow. Being gassy, bloated, and generally uncomfortable is an indication of constipation. With all the hot air of the last election, all about the economy, with all that political pushing and straining, we find ourselves today no better off than before. We are left after the election with a whole lot of nothin’ – just hot smelly air.

get the runs

Could it be the FED?

Medicine has advanced to where it is possible to give a body a endoscopy to find out what is causing the blockage and the irregular bowel movements.  Sadly we do not enjoy the same transparency, the same facility to seek out the spiders in our economy. The house has passed a bill “Audit the Fed” which is being stopped/blocked in a Senate filled with old guard career politicians.

IIs it not the FED’s job to set the speed of the Economy?

One can compare the ideal flow of goods and services through a healthy economy to the optimum rate of food going through a body where nutrients are absorbed and the waste eliminated. The process is pretty much the same. We use the term “stopped up” when we get constipated. When we talk about the economy we prefer the term “the economy is sluggish” but in fact both words mean the same; both words mean a natural flow has been slowed or arrested.

Constipation can be caused by foreign elements like cancer, where growth has gone unchecked. The result is big, ugly, hard, blue-black stools that smell.

We find the equivalent in the economy where foreign spider-entities are going unchecked (as in too big to fail). When intervention is called for either in a colon, or in an economy, without establishing true facts, all that we can know is that there is a situation.

For a natural prosperity there should be a natural, regular flow of goods and services through the economy. Economic speed is slowed down by arbitrary decision points and by too many regulations. With a body or with the economy where there is arbitrary effort to hold back or hold on, or reward one sector at the cost of another, the system tends to break.

Waiting out the bad situation

Our bowel movements are easier to solve than the American economy. Eliminator One (from Picture Lady Health and Beauty) is a fail-safe laxative. It rehabilitates your colon, and puts the muscles of your bowels back into proper action, and it works every time.

With regards the economy we simple folk, too small to succeed, dig in and figure out how to wait out what may in fact be a long, but contrived recession.

The Merry Go Round

 What Goes Around Comes Around.

in 2012 why did MItt Romney/Paul Ryan  lose the election for the GOP?

This election was a spectacle with titillating, incredibly scintillating razzle-dazzle! With all that juicy, sparkling money coming in from Super PACs should we be surprised that the election became one big circus.

the circus

What goes Around comes Around

And when the circus was all over with the lights on the merry-go-round going dim and winking out, it was the donkeys who had won and they had won big time.

A herd of dejected, elephants were leaving office and trudging down the hill.

We are inclined to think that most of the money coming in from these independent political groups creating influence and super PACs were leaning to the right.  If you were to make this assumption you would be dead wrong. They are now increasingly looking LEFT.The super-rich are seeking perks from a party that ran on the platform “Tax the Rich!” LOL.

  • Tax-exempt foundations supporting Obama have assets ten times greater than tax-exempt trusts and foundations supporting the GOP.
  • That the moneyed, philanthropic world is fast moving to the left and has been for some time can be proven by tracking their donations on Open Secrets.  These global elites would appear to have cottoned on to the fact that if you want to control the masses, this is the way to go.  Among the Obama/Hillary supporters you can find: The Rockefeller Foundation; the Rockefeller Family Fund; the Ford Foundation; the Carnegie Corporation; the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation; the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation; the Heinz Family Foundation; the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation; the Fannie Mae Foundation; the Chevron-Texaco Foundation; the Annie E. Casey Foundation; the AT&T Foundation and many more and of course Goldman “Sucks”
  • Many super rich CEO’s that backed Obama in 2008 have been well rewarded: Jamie Dimon (JP Morgan Chase) Dick Fuld (CEO Lehman Bros) Warren Spector (CEO Bear Sterns) Larry Fink (Black Rock Money Management) Greg Fleming (Merrill Lynch) and Larry Blankfein (CEO Goldman Sachs).Warren Buffet and George Soros were both well rewarded by the Obama administration. Other donkey-perks have gone to Walmart (food stamps), J.P.Morgan Chase (Food Stamp EBT bank-fees) , and Pfizer (Obamacare).
  • The Rothschilds are closely linked to Clinton. Marc Mezvinsky, the husband of Chelsea, is a money manager with connections to Goldman Sachs & the Rothschilds. Jacob Rothschild has donated money to the Clinton Foundation.
  • Should we  investigate to see if Romney/Ryan also have ties to the global elites,
these corrupt money managers who wish to transform America into the new North American Continent in a global dictatorial order WHICH FAILS TO HONOR “BALANCE OF POWER, our CONSTITUTION or HUMAN RIGHTS”?

obama statsSo in 2012 against all odds, Obama won the White House. On leaked data from FOI Judicial Watch and the excessive numbers of non-citizens on the voting registers he won with voter fraud. Now as leader of the house Ryan has the power to fix the problem. I don’t see him actively doing anything.

What “King” Obama has done to America in the last four years is an abomination. He has shredded the Constitution, advanced the threat of Islam waged illegal wars appointed judges who elevate racial sensitivity above the fundamentals of the constitution AND SET US UP FOR MARTIAL LAW.

By losing in 2012 the consequences have been catastrophic. We have one last chance in 2016 and all three losers are attacking the one person standing up for America. Shame on them.

Thanks to good work by Rience Priebus and the Tea Party, good people all, the GOP was still able to keep control of the House and there has been a good resurrection and defense of the American constitution over the last four years.

Should we hold Ryan, Romney & McCain accountable? You bet. There is a cost to not stopping evil. Minimally they should look themselves in the face and see their own sins, then they should apologize to America.

The GOP will lose again in 2016 if they do not roll up their sleeves and root out all the entrenched corruption and FALSE IDEAS that have accumulated over the last fifty years.

Politicians tend to think that when they do their dirty deeds that there are no consequences. Not true! Even in politics it seems that doing unto others as you would have them do unto you, is actually (long-term) the cleverer way to go. Good politics builds trust. Until Trump came along, the country had lost its faith in the political elite and in the integrity of the political.process. Yet this is SO VERY vital and important. We are navigating the digital revolution which is of greater magnitude even than the industrial revolution. So far we have gotten away with it, without a civil war or having to take our corrupt elites to the guillotine. This is only thanks to our political  process, faulty as it is.

So what to still needs to get cleaned up?

The GOP Karl Rove invented and perfected the negative attack ad which created in turn a toxic, fearful & divisive parliament.  It was these dirty, diabolical tricks that gave us Bush-baby and kept him in office for two terms and he, too nearly did us in. Not a good game to play, Karl Rove. You are a good republican but these black-propaganda techniques are actually damaging to the Republican party and to the democratic process. It would also be in order for Karl Rove to apologize to America.

What goes around comes around.

By 2012, the Democrats had finally mastered the black slander arts with a brilliance unmatched even in the prior elections of Bush Daddy and Bush Baby. Mitt Romney was positioned as a liar, a tax evader, out of touch and uncaring – I suspect that there is little truth in any of these allegations yet they were thrown out so often and on so many channels that they were made to stick. Democrats consider the rich should pay a high tax rate and fund their indigence. They were able to successfully BLAME Romney. So far, bless him, Trump is avoiding this “we pay for you” tax pitfall.

Karl Rove was initially a Bush-Daddy man. That is right, H.W. Bush the GOP one-term president who was defeated by Clinton and is famous for the line, “read my lips – no new taxes” just before he raised the taxes The irony is that the real crime was in the lie not in the taxes. People rarely forgive politicians when they make a promise and fail to deliver. The truth is that taxes are sometimes good and sometimes bad, politicians shouldn’t ever generalize or make promises they cannot keep.

Now Daddy-Bush is an interesting character. It is rumored he engaged in covert shenanigans with his Saudi friends to prevent the American hostages being released for long enough to undo Carter’s bid for a second term.  The fact is the hostages were released, but they were released only when Reagan was about to be sworn in.  President. Carter has said that his failure to bring the hostages home cost him his second term.  So Daddy-Bush made Carter a one-term president – and guess what, not too long thereafter, Daddy-Bush also became a one-term President.

What goes around comes around

The thing is that Romney/Ryan failed to differentiate themselves from Bush or from the torture/war maniac, Dick Cheney. So what happened is Romney assumed their crimes. In 2016 by his rhetoric and actions we have to suspect he still has not woken up and shone his moral compass.

Paul Ryan is intelligent & likable BUT HE, TOO,  IS GOING TO HAVE TO RADICALLY CHANGE HIS TUNE in order to climb aboard the patriotic Trump Train.

Trump is not a bigot, he is not a racialist and he is right that until we know what is going on with Radical Islam, we need to put in better controls.

We need to hold all accountable including Romney/Ryan for the diabolical success of the PAST FOUR YEARS DECLINE INTO CORRUPTION. We need to also hold them accountable for the unconstitutional executive clout of King Obama. We have to hold them accountable for the pernicious four year’s growth of the size and clout of the Federal Government. We have to hold them accountable for the disintegration of the middle East and the frightening rise of ISIS, of Radical Islam over the last four years when the core principles of the GOP were severely challenged.

What goes around, comes around.

Congress is investigating Hillary and Soros but what about Cheney? They investigate Clinton but what of Bush & Romney & Ryan?   An investigation of ALL members of Congress to expose their connections to Radical Islam, International Socialism, the Bilderberger NWO adn Communism is in order. We have traitors within.

It is a problem in Justice.

Thoroughly investigating the last sixteen or more years would free up the Republican party from past crimes committed in their own ranks and by the opposition. Try Gowdy would be the ideal man for the job. Americans deserve a clean government. Don’t have to prosecute everybody, just put the worst most corrupt offenders head on a pike to send out a clear message to America and the world, we are still the good guys in America.  It would tell the world that we in America can handle power without going corrupt.

In 2016 thanks to the Trump revolution, America is getting a second chance to clean up the party’s  act and if it does, the GOP is going to win big time, it will be a Trump landslide. The Trumps are not angels but they are mostly clean, have no connection to global oligarchies, and stand strong & tall. The current Obama/Hillary administration is crooked, and therefore easy to beat.

We won’t be able to have that big win unless the  Republican Party Elite change their tune and distance themselves from corrupt lobbyists and consultants (who needs them?) from the corrupt donors gaming the system, and from banking as usual and politics as usual.

Propositions

Griping Grandpa gives Simple Guidelines to help you with the Voting Process

Grandpa

Every four years we are asked to make our recommendations on which one of two pre-selected politicians should be allowed to live rent-free in the White House for the next four years.

Eenie, meenie, minie, mo…

But that is not the only decision we are asked to make; there are also other, more local matters thrown in. These are called Propositions.

Now, the purpose of government is to maintain order and to serve the best interests of the people it represents. More broadly, it should also serve the best interests of mankind as a whole and even of all life on planet Earth, now and in the future.

What government tends to do instead is expand its own power and influence at the expense of its people. We, the people, should always be on guard against this. With that in mind I have developed a set of simple guidelines to help me with the voting process. You may find these guidelines useful too.

  1. Vote against all tax increases and fees, even if they don’t hurt me personally. Reason: we, as individuals, have to live within our means and so must government.
  2. Vote against legislation that favors one group over another. Reason: favoritism is unfair. We should all be equal under the law.
  3. Vote against any law that would further limit freedoms. Reason: we are supposed to live in the land of the free.
  4. Vote against any law that adds complexity. Reason: Complexity is the enemy of efficiency and increases bureaucracy. Even more important: ignorance of the law is no excuse, so the laws should be so simple that everyone can understand them.

What we should expect from our politicians is responsibility. We should be suspicious of promises designed to get more votes, such as promises of tax cuts from a government that is in debt. Also be leery of fear-based legislation. Remember the saying that we have nothing to fear, except fear itself.

So what are the things we should vote in favor of? Simple:

  1. Any legislation that will save money up the road.
  2. Any legislation that levels the playing field (but isn’t costly or restrictive).
  3. Any legislation that restores lost freedoms.
  4. Any legislation that makes life more simple and enjoyable.

The Presidential Debates

Grandma on “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly”

Grandma Thunder

The GOOD
Hats off the American Undecided Voter!
The best thing about this debate was the quality of the penetrating questions.

Here are some examples:
To Governor Romney: How are you different from George Bush?

To the President: Your energy secretary, Steven Chu, has now been on record three times stating it’s not the policy of his department to help lower gas prices. Do you agree with Secretary Chu that this is not the job of the Energy Department?

To Governor Romney and to the President: What do you believe is the biggest misperception that the American people have about you as a man and a candidate? Using specific examples, can you take this opportunity to debunk that misperception and set us straight?

These questions show great depth and intelligence. This raises an interesting point, if elections are won in the middle, why all the costly political spin? I  am guessing that few informed (middle of the road) voters are fooled by all the spin.

(See my next post, “Presidential Issues” for commentary on the answers we got to these questions)

The BAD
The moderation in both the first and the second presidential debates left some room for improvement.  Before I was a small business owner I was a teacher and this is when I trained young debaters and moderated and ran debating contests. In a good debate it is the moderator, who sets the rules, defines the parameters, controls the flow of the conversation and sets the tone of the debate.

Neither debater, not Romney and not the President, seemed to figure out how the interchange was supposed to go in this the second debate. Apparently a question was read and given to one or the other contestant who was given only two minutes to answer. It was logical to expect that the person who did not answer would be given the second two minutes to refute or comment.

According to Crowley the last two minutes of each cycle was supposed to be a free for all. That never works and it didn’t work here either. The result was that Romney missed his biggest moment in the debate.

Here’s how it went:
QUESTION:
Since both you and President Bush are Republicans, I fear a return to the policies of those years should you win this election. What is the biggest difference between you and George W. Bush, and how do you differentiate yourself from George W. Bush?

ROMNEY: Thank you. And I appreciate that question.

I just want to make sure that, I think I was supposed to get that last answer time (referring to the second two minutes of the prior question) I want to point out that that I don’t believe…

OBAMA: I don’t think so, Candy.

ROMNEY: … I don’t believe…

OBAMA: I want to make sure our timekeepers are working here.

ROMNEY: The time — the time…

CROWLEY: OK. The timekeepers are all working. And let me tell you that the last part, it’s for the two of you to talk to one another, and it isn’t quite as structured as you think. But go ahead (to Romney) and use these two minutes any way you’d like to, the question is on the floor:

When Romney got to speak he answered the prior question, the one he was waiting to answer. When he did answer the Bush question it was a superb answer but it had already lost its impact.

I always find political MAKE WRONG unattractive. Why do we all agree that one side has to be right and the other wrong? I just happen to think that both can be right for it depends on the situation, the condition and the circumstances, and these things change.  This can also be valid regarding the truth of a statement.

So in a debate it is vital for a contestant to give the time and place and circumstances for each QUESTION OR ANSWER or it all goes awry and we have each contestant stating emphatically “that is false” or :”that is not true”.

Both the President and the Governor acted at times like my naughtier high school students, taking opportunity to make each other wrong, failing to listen, interrupting, and rambling without answering the specific questions. Romney was weakest on taxes, while Obama was weakest on energy.

There was some finger pointing and interrupting, although this debate didn’t quite degenerate to the level of the Vice Presidential debacle where Biden interrupted Ryan 82 times.

The UGLY
There are some questions that should have been asked but weren’t:

  1. Why would you be better at the helm than your opponent during a crisis?
  2. In what way are you limited or restrained or circumscribed by the radical elements in your own party?
  3. In what way are you influenced by big donors as to your policy decisions and your platform?

Nothing was said about the fiscal cliff that looms ahead.maybe as early as 2013. Federal Spending is out of control.

There are three things that are bringing us closer to a possible second recession; the federal spending, the national debt and the European fiscal crisis. That this subject was not addressed at all was an ugly omission.

The graph above shows two major areas of concern. One the spending is out of control but even more important than that is the low GDP.

We need to remove obstacles that cut across our ability to produce as a nation.  This subject is covered in Politics IOU in a light and entertaining  way. Getting serious about what is a serious subjectthe following things adversely impact our ability to produce as a nation.

  1. Environmental regulations that stop industry and/or the development of new energy sources.  Some social constraints are sane and needed but the environmental lobby is now way out of whack. Now they are stopping progress.
  2. The Union rules reward seniority rather than performance and set wages so high as to force American corporations to take their labor overseas. We are in a global market and in terms of jobs the unions may well have priced us out of the game.
  3. In 1913 government abdicated responsibility for the nation’s finances and gave control over to international bankers. The Banks have had centralized control for more than a century and  the finances of the world are now in pretty shabby condition. How to resolve this situation was brushed under the ugly carpet of the usual spin.  We have to face up to this for we cannot do this to our children.

Let me conclude, though, by saying that all things considered, if either Obama or Romney gets elected they are both better than many of the presidents who have come before, with the exception perhaps of Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Kennedy and Reagan. We have a good crop this time round, and while it may not be all that apparent, things may well be getting better.

May we be spared another Nixon. Remember that Nixon was elected by a landslide. We the electorate aren’t all that good at choosing our leaders.

May we do a better job this time round and may it all turn out alright.

Grandma Thunder Job Description for a President

I decided to share this with you from my latest book “Politics IOU – the Election that Freaked the Elites“. (Ella Bevan is my writing pen-name) From Grandma Thunder here is the excerpt:

(Gonzali Larkin is a third- party presidential candidate representing “The Producer’s Party” in the book)

“Hello. My name is Jay O Brannick and I blog for Gonzali Larkin.

In the news today: A Senator was upset when criticized for the recent pay raises Congressmen are giving each other. he believed the people can’t be trusted to oversee the politicians. His solution: Deny the public access to all political data.

Gonzali thinks he has it back to front. He thinks because the people elect the President they should be able to demand good leadership. He promises that if he is elected his only privilege will be to serve.

I asked him to give me a job-description for a President and this is what he said:

• It is the job of the President to inspire his people and to lead them forward strongly
• It is the job of a president to force in transparency; when politics and business are engaged in openly, there are no evil dealings.
• It is the job of the President to keep good order.
• It is the job of the president to control change so that the change rate is acceptable.

Then he looked up at me with his lazy smile and said, “You know I once asked my first wife that question when I first thought of running for president eight years ago and you remind me of that morning.”

We know that his first wife died of cancer soon after this conversation, so the smile was a little whimsical. Three years ago he remarried Annalin, our most popular choice, according to survey, for our First Lady.

“And what did your first wife say?” I asked, not quite sure if I should press the question. He was okay on it.

“She reminded me of when the kids were young and how I handled them . . .

The Tooth Fairy

Grandma Thunder Explains how our Money is Created

I remember the excitement of losing my first tooth as a child. My hardworking teacher- father made a big thing about it. He used this experience to teach me about money. I was to give up my shining, white tooth to a trustworthy tooth fairy who would give me something valuable.

Old lady with cat in rain It was to be a simple transaction.  I give tooth. Fairy gives coin or note. As my father explained it to me – it was all about a fair exchange.

Many of us believe the federal government (the tooth fairy) will take care of us from the day we are born until the day we die.

We forget that we have to give something to the community first.  Why we ask, is the government not magical, can it not print all the money it wants? If you think like this I have some bad news for you.

As a writer I began to look into our financial system because something didn’t add up (except the debt which was getting bigger and bigger)  Ask yourself, if the government could print all the money it wanted, why not just wipe out the national debt? The truth is that neither the Government (nor you nor me) has yet gained effective control over our corrupt and broken-down financial system or the National Debt and most of all not the Trans-National-Banks who do control the system.

You see it works like this: Government does create a billion dollars worth of treasury bills (debt) and Government bows down low to propitiate the Federal Reserve. It is the Federal Reserve (a privately owned corporation owned by the TNCs) who creates the billion dollars out of thin air, takes our Treasury Bonds and voila, now America has a national debt!  That’s right. Go back and read that paragraph again. You are not wrong. It is crazy!

What is even more crazy is that when the Federal Bank creates the debt, it forgets to also at the same time create the interest that has to be paid on the debt. Who is it who gets all the money? Maybe it is the Trans-National- Banks or maybe it was just designed that way. More historic data at: Creature from Jekyll Island.

You see, friend,  we are fighting for our liberty, while in the investment world they are fighting to keep an unfair advantage. In order to pay the interest on the national debt America has to take out another loan and on and on. The debt created is always greater than the money that is bank-created.

And here’s the rub. It is we the people that are expected to work hard, pay high taxes and pay down this interest while we are fed but the crumbs by our masters.

A debt-based financial system is a scam; it is also unsustainable, because it creates debt bubbles that are now popping.

There is a solution:

First: read the free book, Magic Money, written as an entertaining story, but with the purpose to teach financial basics. I am my father’s teaching daughter!

Second: The house recently passed an “Audit the Fed” bill by an overwhelming majority with surprising support form both parties. NOTE WELL Since its inception in 1913 there has never been an audit of the FED.

Fed Chairperson, Bernanke says that such an audit would “be a nightmare” and Democratic Senator Harry Reid promises that the bill will never go through. Please, please contact your senator and tell them you really, really want the bill to be passed by the Senate.

Uncle Sam Broke

Griping Grandpa asks how many pies the Federal Government has its fingers in?

Griping grandpa

We read in the news that Moody’s bond-rating agency is threatening to downgrade the U.S. Government Debt rating.  Are they right? Do we have a situation?

In the heat of the election fever, tax cuts are being mentioned. As much as I favor paying less, anyone who believes that tax cuts will benefit this country has a screw loose. For a country that has to scramble to pay the interest on what it owes, tax cuts will be suicidal. Proposing them is merely a ploy to try and get more votes.

Tax the rich to help the poor? Yeah, right! Make everybody poor. That’s robbing Peter to pay Paul. My name is Peter, so I don’t go support that tactic either.

Uncle Sam Broke

No, cutting taxes is not the answer to our economic woes. Then what is? Cutting spending is.

The federal government has its fingers into far too many pies. The US has 50 states, each of which has its own government. So all the Federal Government has to do is make sure that the various states get along and abide by the Constitution, in addition to maintaining friendly relations with the rest of the world and protecting the nation against foreign invaders.

So, how to cut federal spending? We could start by closing down most federal agencies. You see, there are producers and consumers. Producers create the wealth of a nation, while consumers consume it. Bureaucrats are consumers, so fewer is better.

Abolish the IRS for starters. A small federal government does not need much money. Its needs can be covered by a federal consumption tax, to be administered by the states. Most states already do this in the form of sales tax. No big deal. And it’s fair (insofar as any tax can be called fair) because the amount of tax you pay depends only on how much you consume. It hits the big spenders and smiles upon the frugal. (Of course this requires a constitutional amendment that defines the maximum tax rate and forbids any additional taxes.)

Other spending cuts? The military. We already spend more on this per capita than any other nation, and with no real enemies. It doesn’t make sense, other than for bullying other countries. Of course our soldiers and veterans should be well cared for, but do we really need military bases in 300 countries? Or pointless wars?

Foreign aid. Let’s stop trying to solve other people’s problems by giving them money we don’t have.

The Utopia I envisage is one where we can all do our jobs without harassment and where we are free to create a better life for ourselves and our families.

Ayn Rand

Has Ayn Rand been good for America?

lady in rain

Grandma Thunder

We now have a Republican Vice President-elect who is into Ayn Rand.
Once we had a Federal Reserve Chairman who was also (heavily) into Ayn Rand. Greenspan worked with Clinton and they took away Glass Steagall, which is all that separated investment banking from consumer banking and our great country from an economic melt-down.  Greenspan was again in power under H.W. Bush, blamed for our mountain of debt, and banks too big to fail.

Is there a connection bewtween Greenspan’s Ayn Rand philosophy and his actions?

Once I went to University,  a beautiful campus in Southern Africa perched on a high hill overlooking th Durban Bay.  Flowering shrubs tumbled down the hill until reaching the water and the  colored sail boats, all with their spectacular balloon sails bending to the wind – a truly beautiful place.

sailboats in wind

Durban Bay

I was studying psychology. The little lecturer had shaky hands and a wobbly voice.  A primary tenet of Psychology is that the world and others are stronger than we, and we needed to adapt and to be conditioned just like the rats we were studying.

Did Ayn Rand change me, yes she did.  I quit psychology at the end of the year and graduated after four years in Education, Communications and Theater.

As I read at the back of that lecture hall, I discovered that Ayn saw ‘Man’ as a noble creature responsible for the world around him and I liked that idea better than what I was being taught.  Her ‘Man’ was creative and able and honorable and deserving. He could change the world and make it work better for him and for others.

Much later as a small business owner and crucified by bureaucratic regulations and taxes, it was because I had read Ayn Rand, that I knew I did not owe the world a living.  I would work (like Atlas who shrugged) to shed my shackles.  If I worked hard and staid legal I could keep the fruits of my labor. I saw (still see) no need to carry passengers.  I do not owe the world my ability. I resent that others want to tax me for their medical bills. man holding up the world

Atlas Shrugged

 Let’s bring this full circle.

What Ayn Rand means by Capitalism is the full, pure uncontrolled and unregulated Laissez Faire capitalism,  When Clinton (as advised possibly by Greenspan) set the economy free it zinged and we all profited from the increased speed of the unregulated distribution of goods and services. They made a few mistakes: They failed to differentiate between correct regulation and shackles.

Since Ayn passed in the early eighties, there has been a whole new digital revolution and we live in a global world wrought with inequalities. We remain a collection of nations with our trade and financial transactions flowing freely across state borders.  The regulations and use of dictatorial force in other nations (like China keeping its currency value low) adversely affects free competition and gives them an advantage. Our Government needs to protect us from such.

One day we will be able to put in a free, market economy across the world but we are a long way from that right now. So gentle regulations to protect America are indicated.until we are able to craft a constitutionally free world government.  My estimation bringing real freedom to the world will take all of the current century. We need a good government in America to hold the line lest all of our wealth trickles out and goes to the rest of the world or world dictatorship is ushered in. Good idea to also shed the burdens foisted on us. Why do we pay out so much in foreign aid when we are hurting? Why all the military bases across the planet?

Free market politicians (men of good will)  need to also look at their responsibility to regulate the banking and pharmaceutical sectors, for neither is productive. First step bring in transparency. I see that as a valid function of government.

So when Greenspan and Clinton and G.W. Bush attempted Laissez Faire Capitalism there were some good effects for us but you have to see and know that it also bombed. We can trace the sub prime catastrophe directly to a failure to know when and how to regulate and when not to. In the same way we can trace the ‘banks too big to fail’ back to permitting a collapse of consumer and investment banking in upon each other, to the very same government malaise and it all could come back to  Ayn Rand thinking.

So I really hope that Paul Ryan gets to read my blog.

If you decide to read her, know that Ayn Rand wrote for the story and you will have a good time.  I loved her characters and I loved her plots  I sat there in the last row of the psychology class oblivious to the lessons going on around me.  I would read from dawn to way pastmidnight. Like Greenspan I was hooked.  Like Greenspan I am grateful she came into my life for I could have ended up teaching psychology and having my students craft paper airplanes and shoot them down on me instead of on to a shaky man with his little wobbly voice who was hooked on rats and wanted me to adjust to my environment.  I chose to stand tall and to help to change the world. it is decision we all should make and reading Ayn rand can help.

So here is a message for Paul Ryan, (if you get to speak to him) and also for Rand Paul; please know that it is now a whole new electronic, digital world and that needs to be factored into the Ayn Rand equation.

There is an election around the corner.  But all around me I still see business going on as usual. There is  noise, a lot of money thrown around, some kindness and some nastiness, but what concerns me most is that I still see that the system is skewered in favor of the rich, the powerful, and the corrupt.

“Cinderella’s Ugly Sister” partied with “Big Ears” in Hawaii at Christmastime in a room that cost $10,000 a night.  At the same time in Fresno there were fields of homeless going cold and hungry.

A record number of Americans (43.6 million) are using food stamps. Not good, not good at all!  It is we who pays for that. Yet the leading bank that administers the program made $5.47 billion in net revenue, a portion of it off that food stamp program.

The super rich of the world are hiding their wealth in offshore tax havens, to the tune of $21 trillion and get your wits around that amount. This is as much as the American and Japanese GDPs combined.

In the year 2010 the top ten banks in the world managed more than $6 trillion, up from $2.3 trillion five years before.  Goldman Sachs was included in this number, previously bailed out by the American taxpayer.

The rich and good looking wannabe President is being blamed for his past ability to survive and prosper in a system of capitalism running amuck.  We should hold him culpable only to the degree that he considers “all is still okay” and that he intends to go forward without correcting the system.

Even during the two-year recession with people losing their homes and jobs, Big Pharma is still the nation’s third most profitable sector. Evidence is coming to light that an $80 billion financial commitment from the drug companies gave ObamaCare its first momentum. (sic)

unhappy child

Federal spending on children has declined for the first time in 30 years.  Projections estimate that federal spending on children will continue to decline. Currently 20% is allocated to defense, 6% is allocated to paying off the debt, and 10% goes to the children. In the year 2020 it is projected to have gone down to 8%

Note: Children born today are each being given a debt that needs to be paid off in their lifetime. Get you wits around this number, each and every child now owes $36 million.

So are you surprised that you are struggling?

Personal Freedom

What does Independence mean to you personally?

Every year, on July 4th we celebrate Independence Day, just ten days from when the French commemorate the storming of the Bastille. Both holidays celebrate events that happened a long time ago and are far removed from our present day lives.

Fireworks, Personal Freedom Celebrating Freedom

I would like to propose that, yes, let’s celebrate Independence Day, but let’s turn it into an event that reminds us of how precious our personal freedom is.

With elections coming up, we should concentrate on how we can stop government taking away our personal freedoms. I urge you to vote for the candidate who is most in favor of preserving and restoring our personal liberties and least in favor of measures that reduce them.

When you get a chance to vote on ballots, my recommendations are:

  1. Vote against any increase in government spending
  2. Vote against any measure that favors one group of people over another
  3. Vote against any measure that gives the government rights that individuals don’t have

By government, I mean of course any kind of government, be it local, county, state or federal.

The things I vote for are measures that restore individual rights, save money, repeal unneeded laws, or hold our representatives accountable for their actions.

We wish you a Happy Independence Day!
