Insatiable Spendifosity – with apologies to Rudyard Kipling.
Once upon a time, dearly beloved, there was a little planet scooting around on the very edge of the universe. No I wouldn’t be telling you this story if there wasn’t a most picarious situation there on that little planet.
The problem is sentially the boss-men can’t agree about the planet wallowing in debt, not just a little debt but a big, bad debt; a VERY big debt which would be quite alright if you and I were not (again) expected to pay.
Like swimming in the pool.
They can’t swim well?
No. On one side they give out the food stamps, and the aid to refugees & immigrants (all paid for by the banking FED). The other side fancies big bombs and whrrrrrring fast planes. You like that eh? Truth is this side that likes to fight are mostly OLD men, been getting a payoff under the table since before time began.
Will you & me, one day, be expected to pay?
Unless they get their act together. Fraid so!
How much do we owe? A quarter, a dollar, ten dollars, a hundred dollars? The debt is now way over 120 trillion dollars. To pay your share you would have to work for a whole year with no ice-creams, no burgers, and you wouldn’t be able to pay the rent or even go to school. No you are right, they really don’t know what they are doing! There is only one thing on which both sides agree: they all love to spend and spend and spend and spend. Right now one boss-man wants to cut the entitlements while the other wants to get the money from the rich.
What is titlements? Well it is like this, if you loan money to the government or to a banker, then when they finally get to pay you back, then they call it titlements.
Makes a face.
Let me tell you a secret, dearly beloved. They pretend not to agree, but I suspect it’s all for show. You remember the time you and I were caught with our hands in the cookie jar and we had to concoct a good story together?
Are bankers the same as boss-men?
Kind of, sort of. It is the bankers have their fingers in the cookie jar!
Still looking down at the deb-pictures. They call this the fiscal cliff?
That’s what it is called.
It is when you put too much money in the cookie jar, dearly beloved, and then you try to pick up the jar, but it has gotten way, way too heavy.
So you drop it?
And it breaks?
Yes. Into a thousand little pieces.
Giggling. And the money it runs everywhere?
You think that’s mighty funny? You like that?
Sure Then we not owe anything.
You are way too smart by far.
Sadly dearly beloved they still get us.
No fair. Stamps his foot.
I do understand your anger, dearly beloved. One hundred and twenty trillion dollars is one hefty, big tag they are going to be asking you & me to pay. Now this month they are increasing it to thirty trillion and what gets me is they want to PAY FOR REFUGEES FOR FIVE LONG YEARS.
People who ran away from the bad guys.
They the ones coming to steal from the cookie jar?
Yes dearly beloved, you got it.
They ask us to pay.
If the bank doesn’t fail. Then they replace the cookie jar. They call it a bank bailout.
So we owe double?
Wherever did you get that smart?
Bankers are the bad guys?
They all bad guys. Spenders and bankers, and everybody who tries to steal from those who work. Sigh.
What about the big man?
Which Big Man?
The big man, silly, he the one with the funny, faces, he know about such things?
Yes I think he does.
He made the debt?
No. Not him. He’s far too clever. He manages money wisely.
And you say it’s my money they are spending?
I think the big man going to fix it up. I think one day he get mighty mad and I think he big and strong enough to throw all the bad men over the Fiscal Cliff? #DTS
Laughs. You may be right.
I call him?
I’ll teach you how to tweet.
