Understanding the Spirit of Thanksgiving

True Gratitude is a very Healing Emotion

Winter has arrived with nighttime temperatures up here on the hill, dropping down to 24 and 26 degrees. But then it got warm again and I was convinced it was still fall and not (as I feared) winter and I am left with gratitude. My old bones don’t like the cold weather, is why this winter I am playing snowbird and visiting with my sister in Florida and my son in Texas for the deep winter months.

Right now, though, it is beautiful here, and the weather is mild and the world has a golden glow.

indian-on-boardThe Origins of Thanksgiving

No Americans were more impoverished than the Pilgrims who first celebrated Thanksgiving. It is interesting to contrast their time with our time, for they had far less food, less security and less freedom than we have today.

If we go into a supermarket, or a store like Trader Joe’s, with its tantalizing tastes and smells, we cannot but give thanks for the abundance of our great food choices.

On that very first Thanksgiving celebration in 1621, the celebration was called to acknowledge a good harvest. They were also celebrating that they had made it through a very hard first year in America, where 46 out of the original 102 settlers had died.

At this first Thanksgiving celebration, it was the Colonists and the Indians together, who shared a joyful feast, celebrating the harvest in friendship and accord. Most of the food for the feast was donated by the Indians, (Native Americans) who even brought in five more deer when it seemed the food was running out. There was no “They” and “We” it was all about “Us”; a glorious sharing.

But it didn’t last.

What is it in this world that we find it so hard to live with and treat people of different ethnicity or religion as being bad or inferior?

Today we struggle with the idea that Islam is bad, that Muslims are different and it is true and demonstrable that the aggressive elements in this growing religion, commit ugly acts of violence bringing on our fear. And so we generalize and think of all Muslims as bad. It takes a good heart to develop the habit of NOT descending into a generality, of not getting trapped into hating.

And so it was in those early days when America was beginning that all Indians became bad. It was the “religious” Separatists who called the good Indians, heathens and saw themselves as superior instead of just different. It took but a single generation before their children and grandchildren were killing each other. We can correctly say that Thanksgiving’s early beginnings were decidedly off-color!

Faith and Gratitude

The grateful mind expects good things; and the strong expectation of the good that is to come is closely akin to Faith.

It is a simple truth that one attracts those things on which the mind dwells. It may be a new thought, or it may be something instinctively known, that gratitude brings greater harmony with the creative energies of the universe.

Let’s remember this as we get together with family and give thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving to You!

Young Indians Giving Thanks

American Indian Heritage Month – November

Since 1900, many have sought to recognize the great influence American Indians have had on the history, cultural development, and continuing growth of the U.S. Various dates and weeks were acknowledged until 1976, when Congress authorized a week in October as Native American Awareness Week. Finally, in 1990, the month of November was chosen because it is traditionally a time when many American Indians gather for fall harvest festivals, world-renewal ceremonies, and powwows.

Health Tips for the Month

All about Pumpkins

Did you know?

  • Pumpkins are rich in Vitamin A, which aids your vision. So no need to feel guilty.
  • Pumpkin seeds can help your heart. They can reduce LDL or “bad” cholesterol.
  • Pumpkins have the antioxidant beta-carotene, which plays well in cancer prevention, according to the National Cancer Institute.
  • Similarly, the beta-carotene found in pumpkins helps you to keep your skin wrinkle free.
  • Last, but not least, pumpkin seeds are rich in the amino acid, tryptophan, which produces serotonin, and is a mood enhancer. Is this why we all enjoy our Thanksgiving Dinner with pumpkins so very much?

Quote for the Month

We need to take back ownership of our bodies and minds.

Open your heart and soul to the Great Spirit

Give constant thanks to the Great Spirit for each new day.

All life is sacred; treat all beings with respect

Honor your relations

The Earth is our Mother, take care of her

Do what needs to be done for the good of all

Take from the Earth what is needed and nothing more

Speak the truth; but only of the good in others

Follow the rhythms of nature; rise and retire with the sun

Enjoy life’s journey and leave no tracks.

Understanding Affordable Healthcare

The key to a Health Care System that lasts, is THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED

What is wrong with ObamaCare is its coercive elements, those places where it bypasses free choice.

rising-costs

There is such a wide spectrum of opinions on the subject of healthcare that I have concluded the BEST SOLUTION IS TO GIVE HEALTH CARE BACK TO THE STATES. This allows for local solutions.  One or another of the states is going to get creative and they will come up with a workable system.  Then the nation can follow.

Here are some things to look at when designing a good healthcare system:

One: The High Cost of Medical Toys (tools)

I went for my annual eye-check today I was charged double for the ELECTRONIC MONITORING of my glaucoma. That is right; the cost for the test went up 100%.in a period of only one year.  Now this is a test that is useful to the doctor but it doesn’t actually fix anything.  I want to point out the doctor was using the same machine as last year, no new costly training needed for the doctor or tech, no new facilities were needed.  The facilities had not even been renovated.

SO WHY WERE THE DOCTORS CHARGING TWICE AS MUCH FOR AN ALMOST UNNECESSARY TEST?

Two years ago I decided I should get my heart checked – live in the mountains two hours from a hospital.  NOTE WELL: I was fine just fearful.. I went in to the heart hospital and got my EKG a quick and satisfying outcome – well no, not quite. While the EKG had reassured me my heart was fine, that was not the end of story.  They then slapped me with a Doppler electronic test, an Echo test and several other electronic tests whose names I cannot pronounce and cannot remember. I do remember the bill though, which was over $500.00 which my insurance was unwilling to pay. So much for CONSENT OF THE PATIENT!

Last week I went in for an X-ray – I had fallen on my knee. It wasn’t a bad fall but I am seventy-six years young and so it seemed like a good idea to do a quick check for broken bones.  They wanted to charge me $45.00 for the X-ray and that was just the co-pay.  I walked out without getting the X-ray.

A plummer pays for his own set of tools, so does a carpenter, so does an electrician. Why are we being charged exorbitant prices for doctor tools?

The only way such costs get paid is by passing them along via Big Government.

I left the clinic and was going to Wal-Mart where I needed to buy a pillow.  I estimated the cost at $15.00 – It was $2.97.  As I was leaving the store I saw a little black top similar to the one I had bought a year ago for $10.00; its cost was $5.95 and I snapped it up.

After all by refusing the X-ray I had just saved myself $45.00, hadn’t I?

Point made?

Two: Insurance is designed so that the healthy end up paying for the sick.

The Idle Rich (Big Pharma) are colluding with the idle poor (Welfare) to pass the cost of Health Care along to the hardworking, healthy Americans in the middle class.

Unfortunately after or during a recession, there are more sick than healthy, productive Americans. So insurance costs rise. It eventually reaches a point where the burden is just too big for the average hardworking American family. The only way Insurance and Big Pharma and Big Medicine get paid IS BY GETTING CONGRESS TO UNDERWRITE THE COSTS. Hence ObamaCare.  Judge Roberts correctly said, ObamaCare is a tax.

You add in the health care costs of twelve billion illegal immigrants not to mention refugees, an aging population, and the only way Big Pharma & Big Medicine gets paid is by government subsidy. Is this what this debate is all about?

taxes

The biggest  danger in this  situation is is that there are Socialists who favor a single payer system. That would compound the problem passing along the health burden in the form of exorbitant taxes to the already overburdened middle class.

This bypasses the CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED.

Three: Big Pharma Profiteering
Have you ever wondered how much profit Big Pharma Makes on its Drugs?

A congressional investigation into the exorbitant costs of Healthcare is long overdue.

The swamp dwellers also have to be paid by Big Pharma and yes we the forgotten men, the hard working men of America are also picking up the tab for this.

bribery

Lest Democrats get smug finding two leading Republicans in the swamp, Big Pharma has targeted both parties. (Source: opensecrets.org)

dts-big-pharma

We the tax payers are paying for these bribes.

Now let’s look at the high cost of drugs:

Statin drugs are very expensive–a course of Statins for a year costs between $900 and $1400. They constitute the mostly widely sold pharmaceutical drug, accounting for 6.5 percent of market share and 12.5 billion dollars in revenue for the industry. Your insurance company may pay most of that cost, but consumers always ultimately pay with higher insurance premiums.

Payment for Statin drugs poses a huge burden for Medicare, and the insurance companies. Were this not the case more money could be made available for truly lifesaving medical measures. Know that there is no pain or sensation associated with high cholostrol.  It is another of these drugs Big Medicine has to first persuade seniors they are sick. They do this by monitoring the cholesterol count in the blood. Statin drugs create liver damage and a major byproduct is weak and feeble muscles. I chose not to take the Statin drugs on finding it made me weak and feeble. The one thing I do not want to be is a burden in my old age.

Pharma lowered the threshold of Statin Drugs from 240 to 200 and the number sits at 180. Yet it seems little evidence that Statin drugs benefit and much evidence that they add to the discomfort of old age. If we give Big Pharma and the doctors the benefit of the doubt we still have to hold in question WHY BIG PHARMA LOWERED THE CHOLESTEROL NUMBER from 240 to 200 to 180?

It is not only Statin drugs that cost the American taxpayers billions.  Here is a random selection of some of the more frequently prescribed drugs. (You will notice that already the consumer price of the drug is too high for the average American to pay, unless some insurance company or the Government picks up the tab.)

Prozac 20 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $247.47
Cost of general active ingredients: $0.11

Percent markup: 224,973%

Tenormin 50 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $104.47
Cost of general active ingredients: $0.13

Percent markup: 80,362%

Vasotec 10 mg
Consumer price (100 tablets): $102.37
Cost of general active ingredients: $0.20

Percent markup: 51,185%

Zoloft 50 mg
Consumer price: $206.87
Cost of general active ingredients: $1.75

Percent markup: 11,821%

And Big Pharma is laughing all the way to the bank.

The latest CASH COW  from Big Pharma is Vaccinations.

I come from a third world country and I made sure my son had all the needed inoculations to protect him and those around him. However I waited until he was seven years old so that there was no toxic overload on his developing systems.  He was seven years old and he received only seven inoculations. (1985)  I now have friends and family leaving California where coercive Vaccinations are being mandated.

So why are American children now subjected to 69 vaccinations?

Here is the typical Vaccination schedule:

AGE 12 hours:   1 vaccine
AGE 2 months:  8 more vaccines
AGE 4 months:  7 more vaccines
AGE 6 months: 8 more vaccines
AGE 12-18 months: 12 more vaccines
AGE 2-6 years: 13 more vaccines
AGE: 7-18 years: 20 more vaccines

GRAND TOTAL: 69 vaccinations

There is NO justification for mandating vaccinations. This bypasses the rights of informed parents. Mandatory vaccinations bypasses the CONSENT of THE GOVERNED

The first thing that struck me when I arrived in America was the enormous number of Advertisements for expensive drugs on the television.  I still cringe when I see them. This advertising bypasses the professional responsibility (and integrity) of our doctors. They are tasked with evaluating the advantages of a drug vs its downside- the toxic sideeffects. Yet in America they no longer have professional independence. Is it small wonder that many doctors accept kickbacks from Big PHarma as they go along to get along.

For nearly a century, doctors searched for an alternative to opioids. Then a drug company introduced a product that changed the way the pills worked. It led to a revolution that started with helping patients in chronic pain but  led to scores of doctors prescribing highly addictive drugs to patients with mere minor ailments. What may have begun at the turn of the century as doctor compassion for patients in pain,  is gradually being recognized as at best doctor ignorance and at worst willful profiteering. Today, the pain management field is still in disagreement about the safety of opioid therapy. Policymakers have only recently realized that over-prescribing of opioids is at the root of the problem.

It comes back to patient choice; THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED. Has Big Pharma priced Big Medicine out of the market?

Four: Using the Force of Government to wipe out Natural Remedies

Currently we are in a war of ideas, for with the rise of Trump, the ideas of global are being challenged. What we are up against with Health Care is the insidious lure of socialized Medicine, something embraced by the global elites. .

What the Democratic and Republican Senators do not seem to understand is that we have a common enemy. Good Health Care is not a partisan matter.

When the GOP won the House, the Senate, the Governors and the White House two outstanding initiatives introduced by First Lady 44 fell into disrepute. When a new regime comes in they should inventory and KEEP what was good in the previous administration.

Firstly where before black workers were slightly bent and apologetic, they began to stand proud and tall.  Obama made some big mistakes in his eight years in office, primarily when he tried to bypass our heritage and the constitution,  but in giving black people a new pride, this was an amazing thing and Republicans should honor this. It will reflect in the health of the nation.

Despite the efforts by global to divide us that America actually reached a point where we COULD ELECT A BLACK PRESIDENT this was a big milestone. This was also good for the fashion industry as black women (in my view often more beautiful than whites) embraced color and style inspired by first lady 44, as never before.

Michelle’s influence on the nation was a good one. Her initiative to provide a healthy meal for schoolchildren was also thrown out after the GOP won the White House, the House, the Senate and the Governors. Her program was a good thing, although abused when it went coercive. (Where Obama lost his heritage was when he allowed “big brother” elements in, using the force of government to impose his view on the nation – in America you always lose when you BYPASS THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED.)

Michelle’s other initiative was also inspired and should be kept and reinforced. She taught Americans to grow a natural garden and to use vegetables and herbs in their cooking. She didn’t quite get there but she started in that direction realizing that much that can be done to improve the health of America through community gardens.  We should flow power to these initiatives. A lot of good tech to improve the health of the world in movements like PermaCulture.

The First Lady Club (I can dream)

What if our wonderful First Ladies were to get together and form a club to encourage natural solutions in America.

I mean just think of it, what if Laura Bush, Michelle and Melania were to come together to form a club to lead and inspire Americans. These ladies are untouchable.

This is how we beat Big Pharma & Big Agri profiteering.  Being a first lady is all about setting a good example. All three ladies have proven records, Laura with Education, Michelle with Healthy lifestyles and Melania is just beginning to make her mark.

The American problem with HealthCare is not a partisan matter.

We have a common enemy.

A little history.

Western medicine relies on Big Pharma’s petroleum drugs, surgery and radiation.

Recently the Big Daddy of Oil – Rockefeller died.  What many do not know is that he was also the Big Daddy of Big Pharma now gone global.

While Rockefeller may be dead, his influence is still very much alive going all the way back to the early nineteenth century, started by his daddy William Rockefeller who was a snake oil salesman, touting a fake cancer cure.

Before Rockefeller came along there were many different kinds of natural healing, many different healers, from faith healers to chiropractic and holistic medicine. At that time THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED WAS VERY MUCH IN. Consequently with many choices there was good healing, there was competition and prices were affordable.

Rockefeller hired a man called Abraham Flexnor who persuaded Congress that natural healing was unscientific quackery. Yes that is right, it was the same Rockefeller who said “Competition is a Sin”  and natural remedies are still Big Pharma’s biggest competitor. Flexnor pushed for the standardization of medical education and Congress legislated (erroneously) that only an allopathic based AMA could control and issue medical licences. Right at this point with true competition out of the window, the cost of Health Care became un-affordable. A sad story and perhaps the biggest successful scam from the biggest swamp-dweller operating corruptly during the twentieth century.

(Don’t get me wrong I am not against orthodox medicine. Ten years ago my sister had a front-on car accident and was given a 1% chance of living.  It was orthodox medicine (surgery) pulled her through.)

Orthodox Medicine has its place but when it decides it is the only game in town, it belongs in the swamp.

One last word to the GOP lawmakers now in power. Over the last century Big Pharma has gained much power and power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. (In order to clean up the swamp, an investigation into Bribery and Blackmail of our lawmakers is indicated – only then you can craft a good HealthCare plan.)

The global socialists are completely out of touch with CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED. Both Democrats and Republicans have a part to play in keeping our Constitutional Republic. Solving Health Care is vital to making America Great Again.

The best constitutional solution for Healthcare IS TO RETURN HEALTHCARE TO THE STATES.

This may also be critical to “making Planet Earth” great again.

losing-the-constitutionSo my message to lawmakers is this: Examine these mind blowing facts.and then make informed choices

Quote for the Month

That’s why I think the answer is not more of Obamacare, more government control, more of what got us in this mess. Rather, the answer is empower you. Give you choices. Lower prices. Lower premiums. Lower deductibles. Empower you and put you back in charge of your health care. – Ted Cruz
